About This Service

New chimney installation serves new construction, additions, and homes gaining their first wood stove or fireplace — a complete venting system engineered from appliance to termination. We build both traditional masonry chimneys and modern insulated Class-A metal chimney systems, each where it makes sense.

Design drives everything: flue sizing to the appliance, height for draft and code, routing through the structure, clearances, and a termination detailed for Colorado wind and snow. A chimney designed right on paper is the one that drafts right for the next fifty years.

Signs You Need Chimney Installation

  • New construction or an addition includes a fireplace or stove
  • Adding a wood stove where no flue exists
  • Replacing a removed chimney with a modern system
  • A shop, garage, or outbuilding needs heat venting

How We Work

1

Every project starts with assessment and photos — decisions from evidence.

2

Scope and pricing in writing before work begins; no surprises mid-job.

3

Work performed to code by trained, insured technicians.

4

Final walkthrough and documentation; 24/7 reachability if anything comes up.

Why It Matters for Safety

Everything we do traces back to two risks: fire and carbon monoxide. Codes, inspection standards, and our own procedures exist to keep both where they belong — and 24/7 availability means the urgent version of either always has someone to call.

Maintenance Tips From Our Technicians

  • One annual service visit prevents most emergencies we see.
  • Keep a simple file: inspections, sweeps, repairs — it compounds in value.
  • Changes in smell, draft, or sound are the system communicating; call early.
  • Our line answers 24/7 — the middle-of-the-night question is always welcome.

Why Homeowners Choose Donovan Chimney & Fireplace

Since 1998, Donovan Chimney & Fireplace has served the Front Range with one operating principle: show the customer the evidence, price the work in writing, and do it right the first time. Our technicians are trained, insured, and background-checked — and because we're open 24/7, the urgent version of this problem always has someone answering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Masonry or metal chimney — which should we build?

Masonry offers permanence and traditional looks at higher cost; insulated Class-A metal systems install faster, perform excellently, and can be chased to look traditional. Appliance, budget, and architecture decide it — we build both and will lay out the honest tradeoffs.

How tall does a chimney have to be?

Code's shorthand is the 3-2-10 rule: at least 3 feet above the roof penetration and 2 feet taller than anything within 10 feet horizontally. Wind exposure and appliance specs sometimes call for more — draft physics gets the final vote.

Are you licensed and insured?

Fully. Donovan Chimney & Fireplace carries the licensing and insurance this work requires, and certificates are available on request — something we recommend asking of any company that climbs on your roof.
